What is Apple Music?

Apple Music is an Apple Inc. music and video streaming service. Users may either choose music to stream on-demand to their smartphone or listen to existing playlists. Apple Music 1 and Apple Music Hits, as well as Apple Music Country, are Internet radio stations that transmit live to over 200 countries 24 hours a day. On June 8, 2015, the service was announced, and on June 30, 2015, it became live. New users get a six-month free trial before having to pay for the service on a monthly basis.

Apple Music, which started off as a music-only service, began expanding into video in 2016. The service’s goal, according to executive Jimmy Iovine, is to become a “cultural platform,” and Apple reportedly wants it to be a “one-stop shop for pop culture.” Music videos and concert footage that support music releases, as well as web series and feature films, are all areas where the company is heavily investing in the production and purchase of video content.

The first iOS version of Apple Music garnered mixed reviews, with complaints about a “not intuitive” user interface. It was acclaimed, however, for its playlist curation, large song catalog to stream, and connection with other Apple devices and services. The app was redesigned in iOS 10 and received positive feedback for its updated interface, which included less clutter, improved navigation, and a stronger focus on users’ libraries. Apple Music quickly gained traction following its introduction, surpassing the 10-million-subscriber mark in just six months. As of June 2020, the service had 72 million customers worldwide.
