The NBA draft is here, and a few former Jayhawks can add their names to a long list of former Kansas basketball players to play in the league.
Ochai Agbaji and Christian Brown are expected to be selected in the first round of Thursday’s draft. Draft experts view Agbaji as a late pick in the lottery (picks 10-15), while many view Braun as a first-class late pick. Fellow Jayhawk David McCormack announced the draft but analysts don’t think he will be selected.
If these three make it onto the court this season, they will be the 82nd, 83rd and 84th basketball players in Kansas who play in the NBA.
Here’s a look at every former Jayhawk who played in the NBA, ranked by his first season in the league.
KU basketball players are currently in the NBA
Sixteen former Jayhawks players appeared in at least one NBA game last season. Among these players, Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins have had the greatest impact.

Embiid was a contender for the MVP having averaged 30.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. He played in the best 68 games and led the Philadelphia 76ers to the second round of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Wiggins has found his rhythm on the bigger stage, winning the 2022 NBA Finals with the Golden State Warriors. Wiggins made his first NBA All-Star team and averaged 17.2 points and 4.5 rebounds.

Among that list, four names stand out: Wilt Chamberlain, Paul Pierce, Joe Joe White, and Clyde Lovelett. The common denominator? They are all farmers hall.
Chamberlain was a four-time MVP, two-time NBA champion, and 13-time All-Star during his NBA career, scoring 19 points all-time. He was a seven-time scoring champion and also captained the league in 1968. The number 13 retired with the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers. Chamberlain averaged 30.1 points, 22.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game during his career.
Pierce is the latest Jayhawk to make it into the Hall of Fame. Pierce spent most of his career with the Boston Celtics before jumping to the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers, making 10 All-Star teams in the NBA. He won the MVP Championship and Finals in 2008 with the Celtics before retiring from his jersey. Pierce averaged 19.7 points in his time in the NBA.

White, another Celtic player, averaged 17.2 points, 4.9 assists and four rebounds in his 13-year NBA career. He was a seven-time NBA star, winning the Finals in 1976 and 1974 and being named the Finals Player of the Year in 1976. The Celtics retired from the No. 10 jersey as well.
Lovelett was a four-time NBA star and won three titles. He averaged 17 points and 9.5 rebounds in his professional career.
