Summer is officially here, and that means we’re almost halfway through the year. With this in mind, a few brands have amassed enough data to create large “best” lists — and Amazon is among the first to kick things off with their 2022 Best Books list (so far).

On June 15, Amazon book editors released their list of the 10 best books of the year (January-June). Shelby Van Pelt Remarkably bright creaturesa novel that editors say “communicates a message of love and loss,” took center stage.

The list, hand-curated by Amazon Book Editors, features a mix of best sellers that both shoppers and editors love. It also contains new and mysterious titles.

Editors have combed through thousands of pages and hundreds of books in popular categories such as literary fiction, mystery, thriller, romance, history, biographies, memoirs, cookbooks, and even children’s books.

Sarah Gilman, managing editor of Amazon Books, said the committee agreed that Shelby Van Pelt’s “amazing debut”. Remarkably bright creaturesIt deserved the number one spot simply because it’s “completely original”.

“It’s in a way that it can be all things at once: sweet, touching, funny and wise,” she said in a statement. “I still miss these characters, especially the wise octopus at the heart of the story.”

Professional book reviewers and publications can’t stop raving Remarkably bright creatures. Washington Post He describes it as “a good start at the end but deceptively sensitive about how it feels when love is taken away from you.” Kirkus Reviews also clearly explains that it is “a novel about a woman who befriends an octopus” before adding that it is “a heartwarming, charming read.”
